UK Immigration minister Phil Woolas has made a statement in anticipation of a new Borders, Citizenship and Immigration bill which is expected to introduce an increase in the period of residence required to qualify for citizenship in the UK.

New changes relating to dependants of Turkish citizens came into force on 1st June 2009.
Bringing the visa application definition of ‘dependants’ of Turkish citizens in to line with other European countries, even though Turkey is not a full member of the EU.
